- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet.
- Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border.
- Sprinkle Gruyère cheese and thyme on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use a non-stick pan for easier caramelization.
