Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice cakes (tteok)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Soak rice cakes in warm water for 10 minutes.
  2. Boil water in a pan and add soaked rice cakes.
  3. Cook rice cakes until soft, then drain.
  4. In a separate pan, mix gochujang, sugar, soy sauce, and garlic.
  5. Cook sauce over low heat until thickened.
  6. Toss rice cakes in the sauce.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust sauce spiciness by adding more or less gochujang.
  • For extra crunch, pan-fry rice cakes before coating.
