- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 16 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown ground beef and sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
- Add spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
