Ingredients

  • 500g minced lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 250g plain flour
  • 100g lard or butter
  • 100ml cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Mix minced meat, onion, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, pepper, and salt in a bowl.
  3. For the pastry, rub lard into flour until crumbly. Add water and knead into a dough.
  4. Roll out two-thirds of the dough and line a pie tin. Fill with the meat mixture.
  5. Roll out the remaining dough for the lid. Seal edges and cut a small hole in the center.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use hot water pastry for a crispier crust.
  • Let the pie cool slightly before serving.
